In this case, you would have a Sky Q main box with 2 TB storage which is shared with the Sky Mini box (you can have up to 4 mini boxes and 1 main).

The mini box can still record and play content in the same way a second HD box could. The difference is it is all stored on the main box and available to all boxes.

What’s the reason for needing 2 SlyQ main boxes?

I had 3 Sky HD boxes before getting SkyQ. Now I have one main SkyQ box and 4 SkyQ mini boxes (although only 2 of the mini boxes can be used at a time).

No need for 2 main boxes.

That's a great offer for £20.00. You also only pay one extra box fee, the older sky boxes you have to pay a subscription per box so this is a better deal in my opinion.

The 2TB storage is plenty of storage.
