The two are listed as separate items:
imgur/a/GgEsr If it wasn't spelt out in such a way I could see it as being a mistake. If you change the booking to (say) HNY then it clearly states counter service breakfast only (imgur/a/Ttjmp), no mention of characters. If you change a date to a time without free HB then you get the option of adding a hotel breakfast (not a quick counter breakfast) and the HB meal plan you add on (i.e. paid for) is definitely a hotel breakfast too. So it seems only the "free" HB (and the upgraded from free FB) isn't a hotel breakfast. Only the buffalo bills has an note of "1 per stay", none of the others do. Note the text in the top bit? It still says counter service too! What a mess. so lets click the next page for our "free HB in DLH" and look at the extras: imgur/a/tVmAx All included. Even more of a mess! Edited at 02:00 PM. |

On live chat I have been told only 1 choice for quick service breakfast - seems crazy.
they do say there is no such thing as a free lunch |

I think there is a choice of pastry.
And if you go to Cafe Hyperion it looks like you can have sweet or savoury - there's an 'omlette burger' thing on the menu there. It looks like you can have that plus a pastry and a hot and cold drink, which would make quite a substantial breakfast.

The problem for us now is the lack of choice for breakfast foods.
Whilst the standard of breakfast was sometimes criticised in the hotels, at least guests could choose what to eat from the buffet based on preference or even dietary need. Drinks (hot and cold) were on tap and if you had issues with dairy, eggs, gluten etc you could work around it. Not any more. Whilst I can (and do) eat pretty much anything, various members of my family have differing likes/dietary needs. This situation doesn't not cater well for them and from what I can tell booking a package that offers 'free' dining at Sequoia means that the breakfast supplied with be offered as QS in the park with this very limited menu and we will not get breakfast actually in the hotel in which we are resident, i.e. the old style buffet we used to get. I believe we only get this if we pay for the dining plan and don't receive it 'free' as part of the package. We have plans to book 2/3 trips this year but are really confused. |

We've booked SLGF for our Dec stay as it was cheaper than a standard room with adding breakfast on. Can't wait never stayed in GF room before so it was a no brainier!

no I dont believe you can (upgrade your "free" quick service breakfast to hotel buffet breakfast I mean). You can pay for breakfast at your own hotel though - according to magicbreaks it will cost you £19 per adult and £18 per child, per day, to do so -
