Sat Nav
Hi,
We are going to g to be doing a fair bit of travelling on our next trip so will definitely need a good sat nav. Last time we went we hired one from eBay, but it was rather frustrating in that it didn't tell you about a turn until you were practically on top of it. I'm no longer with 3 so not able to use 3at home, and I don't want to rely on paper maps. Would you recommend we rent a sat nav from our car hire provider at the airport (we are dropping the car off at a different location, will this make a difference?), or shall I try and rent one from eBay again? If so, does anyone have any recommendations on good ones? Thanks! |

Get a one month sim only from 3 for about £20 with unlimited data (although its capped at around 20gb I think). Far cheaper!

Make your first stop a Walmart or Bestbuy and simply buy one. It works out cheaper and you can always sell it on your return.

I guess not all renters will use the same sort of sat nav but if you know you don't want a specific one then i'd buy one from Walmart when i got there. We've hired one for £17 for 3 wks from eBay, happy with that

I have used CoPilot live on my phone for the last few trips to the USA. It's not reliant on data ( you download the map to the phone) just using GPS. Reasonable price, and clear instructions.

I use an app caller 'here'. It's free and you can download the USA map so you don't need data. Works really well.

We have looked at options of buying or renting a sat nav. I took the plunge and bought one from eBay fo £30. It has USA and UK maps. It worked perfectly and is used daily over here!
We liked it so much, we've just bought another for £29.71! |
