We've been trying to decide what to do for a holiday this year. Florida would be my first choice (especially as I have a birthday ending in 0 this year), but it would have to be in school hols and the prices are ridiculous.

We were thinking of Boston for a City break instead (just DH & I) but where you went seemed to have so much to keep the children interested. However mine are older than yours, boys aged 11 & 8, and they view going for a walk as punishment so there might be less hiking and more stopping for ice cream and cake

Would you mind pointing me in the direction of where you did your research?

Thanks Alison x

Hi

Last year we were also not really sure of where to go on holiday and weplanning for F;lorida this year so wanted to do something different. I'd always fancied the idea of New England, without really knowing much about it! A friend had been to Cape Cod and recommended that and when discussing this with my sister, she mentioned she had been the White Mountains in winter skiing and said it was very picturesque and not far from the Cape.

So we kind of looked at the two together and started off googling. I found the White Mountains tourism site really useful and they even posted us free guides which came in very handy. Discovering Santa's Village, the idea of whale watching, the Cape beaches and the mix of mountain and coast really appealed... finding Xmas inn was a stroke of luck and we loved it. I would go back in a flash.

If we'd all been a bit older, we might have stayed longer in Boston, or possibly driven back home via New York! Someone sat near us on the plane was doing that. Or otherwise gone further up intp Canada or Vermont. The possibilities are pretty endless.

Theres lots for older kids too - kayaking, fishing, river swimming, a water park, hiking, mountain zip slides etc that I'd have loved to do but ours were just too young... so plenty to suit all ages and tastes.

Happy planning! I'm happy to answer anything else if I can!

Hi Alison,

Thank you so much - you've been so helpful. Even if we don't make it this year I hope we do in the not too distant future!

I'm sure I'll be back with some more questions

Thanks once again x
