Auto Europe any bad points?

I have almost always booked direct with Alamo/Brits, this year they are quite expensive, but I have found Auto Europe to be much cheaper even though it's still with Alamo, my question is: once I have booked will I still get the reference number or link for on-line check in as if I booked direct?

Also, I can see most of the comments are quite positive about AE, what are others views please.

Yes you will. We have used them for our last two trips to hire a car with Alamo and are booked again with them for next May.
We had no problems doing skip the counter with Alamo

We've booked with AutoEurope a few times over the years and never had an issue.
This year we booked a mid size car for around £560 for 24 days, a few weeks prior to leaving they had a sale on. We called them a couple of times when the price dropped and we finished up with an upgrade to Standard car (full size) and paid £470.
Our refunds we're back on our card within a week.

AutoEurope link to Alamo is very quick as well.

Always use them. Never had a problem.

Once booked keep checking back every so often to see if the price has dropped further. You’ll get emails from time to time advertising discounts too.

You just go to Manage my booking > Modify reservation > Choose different car.

Then you just select the same car at the lower price and the difference is refunded back to your card in a couple of days (has to be the card you made original booking with).

I rate AutoEurope very highly. Several years ago (doing the pacific coast highway trip - LA to SF). A day at Disney was on the agenda, driving there from our hotel we exceeded a junction on what we thought was a green go - got smacked by a small lorry passenger side rear and back of the car smashed and I mean smashed. Fortunately, a police man was on the corner and came to our rescue. As the passenger the truck missed me by foot and was pretty shook up. Police checked the car and said we were OK to continue to drive to the nearest Dollar and get the car changed. We had all the appropriate insurances - gold cover. Arrived at the nearest dollar, explained the accident gave the police no. and Insurance details. No faffing about, and sent to pick up another car from the SUV line. That was it, and we drove away to continue out trip.

Plus go through Quidco for cashback. However check the prices with and without Quidco as people are reporting that going through them raises the price!

Hi Tom Thanks for that, I don't have a cashback account with anyone (I know, very un-dibbish) the difference between Alamo Brits and Auto Europe at the moment is £100! for exactly the same thing.

You have to be so careful, I 'discovered' AE through Skyscanner, I saved the quote at £311 for 15 days hire, when I signed up to AE for discount offers the best they do direct is £333? Good thing the link from the quote email still works.
