Christmas cake, hate it or make it?

Just as it says, do you hate it or make it? If you make it is it Delias recipe (or a close match) do you use another recipe, or is it bought given to you. Just put the fruit on to soak a little later than normal, so will be baking over the weekend sometime.

I hate Christmas cake but I make the Delia Smith classic for my dad and then for my husband I make her Caribbean cake from the Christmas book.

I can take it or leave it but we have made the Waitrose kit a few times and my mum usually makes one so I will have some of hers.

Ive made the same christmas cake since I was first married, moons ago. Mrs Beetons All About Cooking book. Plus the same Christmas puddings from the same book. All absolutely delicious. Mind you does have the obligatory brandy in!

Mine started with a double brandy yesterday, and has just had a small schooner of sherry for lunch - and we're only at the 'soak the fruit' stage!

Oh that reminds me - I have a Mrs Beeton's Christmas book somewhere (the Nigella's were sold at a carboot). I've not made anything from it yet, but will have a peruse with my afternoon tea!
