I could understand one of the BBC channels devoting a few hours to paying their respects to Prince Phillip and showing programmes about his life. Perfectly understandable.

What I couldn't understand was *all* the BBC channels showing the same thing.

If someone wanted to watch a documentary about him then they could select BBC One - or ITV or whatever. For the rest who had seen enough after the first couple of hours, it would've been nice to have had another option. Especially for those who might have lost a loved one recently and wanted a break from being reminded of loss and tragedy.

Thank goodness for Netflix and Disney+.

Watched 10 to 15 mins of the 1pm BBC News last Friday afore turning it off, thereafter we found other Freeview channels more than adequate (don't need/want pay to view TV). Didn't watch BBC, ITV et al until Line of Duty on Sunday. Won't watch anything funeral related on Saturday, or any day come to that.

Watch/not watch is personal preference at day's end, it's all good, neither should be berated for their choice.

I thoroughly enjoyed the BBC1 programming (didnt watch any other channel programming on HRH Prince Philip) . I do enjoy both historical and royal biog programmes so this was a marriage of the 2 for me. I couldn’t get enough - recording and watching and will do the same today for the funeral. Each to their own but I think it was spot on, the right thing to do and entirely appropriate and joy of joy seems many of my friends did so gives us something else to talk about on the walks rather than the C word.

I will watch the funeral today, and like many of us i suspect, will be thinking of the Queen.
