I take DS on Friday. The reality that his girlfriend will be a 320mile round trip away is starting to kick in. Both going to different unis a day apart. Hes going to be nearly a 400 mile round trip from home. My DD goes back Saturday so its going to be me & the pets for the first time. Couldn't be more proud but boy i will miss them x

DS picks up his keys on Thur so we are taking a car load of stuff for his room and kitchen things. Then coming home as DS2 bday on Friday. Going back for real on Sat as that's the official moving in day. Will do a food shop up there on Thur for non perishable and then when we go back on Sat just have to buy the fresh stuff.

I am very weepy about him going, he seems ok but hides nerves well. Good luck to students but also to parents, it's a tough time

Good luck to all of your sons and daughters, it feels very strange for us that we don’t have to do this any more. DS1 graduated in 2017, DS2 graduated in 2020 and has just completed his MA and will he heading home at the end of the month. The worst moving in/out was for his year abroad, can’t believe how much stuff he had 😬

However, I am pleased that she’s happy in her uni home too with her lovely housemates and can, hopefully, have a wonderful ‘normal’ year at uni this year with face to face lectures and lab sessions and more opportunity to go out and enjoy herself with her friends.

Good luck to all new and returning students xx
I agree xx I’ve got ds1 going back to do his third year at uni although this is the second year of the course he’s on now .ds2 is starting uni this year too both leave this week 😭 I’m going to be a wreck ! Thankfully I have my youngest 9 he’s my little Ray of sunshine to keep me going .
Best of luck everyone but especially parents !❤️

Daughters 2nd year... last year was a complete and utter non event for her... she stayed on campus but had bullying issues (everyone in her halls turned on her... rotten food put under her doors, sh*t rubbed on door handles, food stolen... proper pschological stuff) got her out and into a block of elder foreign students who it seemed hardly spoke a word of English... her course which is 75% practical... was on line... which was apparently a farce... so when she came back at Christmas and had a literal breakdown in front of us I wanted her to sack it off and stay at home... to her credit she said If she didn't go back she never would... and things slowly got better... her therapy was feeding and befriending families of Geese down by the Thames (shes at Reading)... slowly she found a decent group of girls that she befriended and things slowly improved... it's still not the experience she expected but she stuck at it and I'm extremely proud of her for doing that...

I just hope the Freshers have at least some sort of Uni' experience this year... Good luck to them all.

Good Luck all.

We are taking DD across on Thursday, I am taking a fully loaded car and DW/DD are going on the train. We are staying over on Thursday and taking her food shopping on Friday, she doesn't start her course until the 4th October.

My daughter also had a horrible time but not anything as bad as this, she’s now with a group of friends that she knew from high school but also a new girl who she’s really likes. I hope your daughter has a amazing time now and the bullies get the Kama they deserve xxx

I have a son who just graduated this year & another son just starting!
He starts on Monday at Queens University Belfast, we’re not far from our uni so he’s staying at home & travelling the 15 miles for this year & he’ll get a house with mates for the next 3 years all being well. He didn’t want to sign a contract for a house incase Uni moved to remote learning, where he could be doing this at home.
He’s all sorted & ready for starting on Monday!
Good luck to everyone & let’s hope they all get a proper first year at university! 🍀

Oh my word, thats just awful. I really can not understand why or how people can be so mean. Thats extreme bullying, I just know my daughter couldn’t cope with that.
I am so glad she has made new and better friends 👍🏻👍🏻

Last year she hardly socialised and didn’t drink alcohol, she was much happier when we left her yesterday. I hope all uni students settle in well and live their best lives!
How is the first week going? I hope she is still enjoying herself 🤞🏻🤞🏻
My Amelia goes on Friday, its really starting to sink in so we are excited and nervous all rolled into one.
We have had talks and talks about her looking after herself properly (diabetes) because she really is lazy, too lazy to inject 🤨
I am literally sick of spending money on the student room, I am sure I have kitted out a whole house 🤣🤣
