Making shampoo/soap

I've been using shampoo bars for a while and would like to have a go at making my own, and maybe for gifts (and maybe soap too).

There are so many recipes out there! Then I found ready to go base mix, but it has a ph of 9.5 and I've read that ideally shampoo bars need to be ph 6 ish.

So anyone do this and any suggestions as to recipes, suppliers, good ideas?
thanks

Hi Babbymint

I used a kit that I’d bought from hobby craft and made soap just before lockdown 1. It was a Godsend as there was no soap in the shops for a while. No idea what the Ph is so can’t help with a technical response, but it lathers beautifully and makes your hands really soft.

I toyed with the idea of making my own for a bit and saved loads of stuff on Pinterest for melt and pour as well as cold pressed soaps. Lots of recipe links on there as well. Might be a good start?

Thanks Poppycat.
I bought a low pH one that was absolutely lovely from a lavender farm, it leaves the hair really soft. Other ones I’ve tried just dry my hair out and make it really stiff! I will look on Pinterest though thanks.
