Presents for nurses
Hi I just wondered if someone can help.
My husband has just got out of hospital having spent a few days there and really ill. He would like to send a gift to the nurses to say thank you and was thinking of a cake for them to share. Does anyone know if there are any rules to follow particularly now a days due to covid? |

I have taken tubs of Heroes into hospital recently, there didn't seem to be a problem.

I think, from an infection control perspective something like a tub of heroes or celebrations as they are all individually wrapped might be best. We certainly would have greatfully accepted any gift when I worked on the wards but I suspect some places will have tweaked what they can accept in light of covid. It’s a lovely thing to do though whatever you decide and will be very much appreciated. I hope your husband is making a good recovery x

We took in catering tins of coffee and teabags and the staff were delighted with them.

It’s always lovely when someone shows appreciation. In my experience tea & coffee are alway gratefully accepted.

A tub of Heros or Roses or a good biscuit selection are always a winner, something that can be nibbled on when you get a bit of downtime.

There are no restrictions that I know of in the hospital where I work.
Chocolate, sweets, biscuits, tea and coffee are always the best gifts ! Mainly because with a fresh cake it will need to be eaten on the day and not everyone will be on shift. Anything longer lasting will be left to share for a few days and it’s more likely everyone who looked after your husband will see the gift. It’s lovely of you to think of taking a gift in. Hope your husband continues with his recovery. |
