Disney Free Dinning
Am I going mad here.
I have just found out someone I know is going to BC next year. They booked on the free dining and are saying we should have booked earlier to get free dining for our trip this year. We only got the 15% discount. Yes before its mentioned I know prices go up each year. With tickets and the same garden view we are paying an average of £430 a night. With tickets and dinning plan they are paying just under an average of £600 a night. So thats £170 a night extra for free dinning. To me thats not very free, even taking into account price rises for 2020 and their gift card.

It is because the £600 will be the full price. But if there is 4 people in the room then that is a good price for the dinning plan. But not so good if there is only 2 people. I got the free dinning for Coronado springs for 5 nights (min to book) there is 3 of us and it would have been $150 + for qSDP.

So as I always say, often to the irritation of others I feel. Do the maths for free dining. For a family of four it’s generally the best deal of the year. For two guests a room discount is frequently better, especially at deluxe resorts.

Only high end deluxe resorts. I’ve posted this before but we stayed on free nights last year and what we saved was less than the cost of dining plan and less than what we spent on food so even as 2 adults free dining is better for us. We’d only have been better with free nights is we’d stayed at one of the expensive deluxe resorts, which are out of our price range.
To the OP, you pay full price for a room with free dining. It’s either the deal you want or it’s not. |

Depends on the time of year to be accurate. Me and my daughter have stayed at AKL on free nights and saved more than the cost of the dining plan. That doesn’t fit your high end deluxe resort category. I do not, like others, promote either deal as better. I simply advise people to do the maths. Entirely uncontentious, sensible advise.

Prices fluctuate. I have priced up free dining versus free nights many times and free dining has always been the better deal, even for us as a couple.

Fair enough, I was just pointing out that’s not been my experience. I’ve also found that free nights has changed over the years and is only a good deal for certain resorts. Most resorts now either have no free nights or 1/7 which even for one of the more expensive resorts may not get you close to the cost of dining plan. Of course it may cover the cost of what you actually eat which is different.
As I also pointed out, free dining is either right for you or it’s not. |

A 15% discount on a £600 room for next year of £90, so if similar circumstances you'd pay £510 a night. I
