Dubai and Hong Kong - May 2017: Day 1 - Palazzo Versace Friday Brunch

Friday 12th May
5,289 Steps
2.17 Miles

After such a late night, we didn’t get up too early but my sister made sure we were up by 10am Dubai time so we had plenty time to get ready for brunch.

We went to the Palazzo Versace Hotel, which is on the south side of the creek, for their Friday Brunch. I think it was 550Dhs each but as we had 2 for 1 vouchers from my sister’s entertainer card we only paid 590Dhs in total (incl a tip) as the kids were free. Think that worked out roughly £120 so only £60 each for unlimited food and drink which was pretty good. There was a kids club that the kids could use so after they had eaten (lots of pizza, nuggets, chips, ice cream, desserts, chocolates etc) they all ran off and we didn't see them again until we had to collect them at the end. Eden wasn't able to go as you had to be 4 but she was quite happy with her big cousins iPad and her ice cream.

After the delicious buffet brunch, which lasted from 1pm until 4pm, we got a couple of last drinks and took them outside to the terrace. Included in the brunch price is use of their facilities so we all got changed and had a couple of hours enjoying their lovely pool.

We didn’t leave the hotel until after 7pm when the smart drivers had turned up to drive us home in the two cars. It’s such a great idea as it meant instead of getting taxi’s to and from the hotel we could drive there, valet park then get the cars driven home for the next morning. It also meant we could all enjoy the unlimited alcohol. It cost 120dhs per driver which is around £25 which was great as my sister lives quite far south of the creek.

Once home we got the kids a McDonald’s then got them into bed. We had a couple of glasses of wine and then ordered a Wendy’s just to have a little bite as we were all still quite full from the brunch. With Dubai being only 3 hours ahead it always still felt early to us to be going to bed but we knew Hong Kong was another 4 hours so wanted to get used to it as soon as possible.
