Ian played it last week a Scottish golf expression I'm told coo park not one he'd play by choice prefers the Dunes Ridgewood lakes Falcons fire and then Highland Reserve but good enough as that was all that was open

That was exactly our experience of the course, we have played OCN crooked cat and country club at championsgate in the last week also and both those courses were in superb shape, both were immaculate.

Played Southern Dunes yesterday

As my signature might suggest I have played there countless times

Yesterday was the best condition I have ever seen it in.

But boy was it hot yesterday afternoon!

Ian will be glad the Dunes is looking good have the HOA moved any of the fallen trees and branches yet picsche took looked as though there was a lot down

Helen it looked pretty good to me

Course was in great shape

Much firmer than I remembered it

There are still broken bits here and there but they didn't interfere with play at all

Ian says when they replaced the greens last year they added drainage removed some trees and reseeded and resurfaced the cart paths He's looking forward to his round at Bay Hill in December and several at the Dunes Don't know if it be of interest to you and Mrs Thor I don't play but do likecto go to Top Golf in Tampa after a day at Busch ,Big Cat Rescue , shopping etc our 2 out of 3 non golfing DILs enjoy it as well

Missed this thread, I’ve played Providence many times and it’s always been in decent nick so quite disappointing to hear you had a bad experience. Agree it’s not a Southern Dunes and no amount of TLC would get it there as SD is a gem. I did tick a new course off over the last 2 weeks, Champions Gate Country Club which opened last year, no clubhouse yet but building is ongoing. Really nice course and worth a visit but again it’s not a patch on SD but to be fair, few are.

I also managed to get 2 roundabat grand Cypress for the first time in 4 years, still a great layout with the “East” 9 being the standout.

I played Championsgate Country Club last year and enjoyed it too, more than I did the original 2 Championsgate courses certainly.

The tees at Providence were just awful and it has IMO a few really ropey holes

It looks like a fairly significant road they are putting in between 16 & 17
