Ncl epic
Just booked a Transatlantic cruise on the Epic , going on 5th November, Barcelona to Orlando got what I think is a good price , only done 3 cruises all with Thomson so not sure what to expect , lots of sea days so hope there's enough to do I've always fancied a Transatlantic but the wife thinks she'll be bored, if anyone has done a Transatlantic on the Epic any tips would be great thanks.

We've been on the Epic, not transatlantic but an 11 night cruise. We loved the ship! Very big with lots of restaurants onboard. The water slides are great fun. Always found the food to be good and the buffet was huge and varied. The duelling piano place(the name escapes me) was great fun! Service was good overall, a little slow in the main restaurants we found. O'Sheehans is a great pub and is open 24 hours if you fancy some late night chicken wings. We are cruising again with NCL next month, a transatlantic on the Getaway so looking forward to that.

Yes we had the drinks package and it's great. When we went it was any drink up to $15. There was never a drink that we wanted that wasn't included. Speciality coffees are extra though.
Norwegian are a very informal cruise line. Some people dress up for dinner, some don't. We didn't take anything fancy, it was all very casual stuff. We loved the freestyle dining. Basically you eat where you want, when you want. No set times, no set restaurants and no sharing tables. The Chinese restaurant which is complementary is lovely but you can't book it so I would suggest eating outside of regular times unless you are happy to take a pager and go off for a wander while you wait.

Hello, I did my first cruise this year on the Epic and it was brilliant - so much to do, all the shows were great (even my teenager enjoyed them). You will have a great time - we added on the 4 Speciality dinners and they were all amazing, if you like deluxe dining at Disney they are of a similar quality. We did the cirque show, Cagney, teppanyani & moderno and all were lovely. Loved the laid back feel and booked another NCL cruise from Venice for 2018! I would go back on the Epic in a heartbeat 😄

Another thumbs up for the Epic here Lovely ship, loads to do We were never bored and always found something to do in the daytime that we were not off the ship. There is things like, Dance classes, quizes, Bingo, pool, bowling, demonstrations and pool parties or you can just sit and relax in your cabin or on deck, drink cocktails and eat If you find the pool deck busy on sea days there are quiet places to find a sunbed on the top deck and in the adults only area at the back of the ship. Very jealous would love to do a transatlantic

We did last years Westbound Transatlantic on the Epic, it was our second time on the Epic and the TA was absolutely faultless.
In addition to the regular shows they will draft in extra entertainment to cover the length of the cruise and there will always be something new to watch in the evening. They wont make these public knowledge before the cruise. They will also be running the likes of Bingo, Deal or No deal and quizzes through the days. I would recommend that when you board to take a look at the entertainment schedule for the length of cruise and book ahead for the shows that you want to see. They have a tendency to book out fast on Transatlantics The weather was perfect for us with calm seas and warm weather, pool decks got busy and some people had a tendency to stake out their claim on loungers. But we always managed to find seats. We had our two children with us and they really enjoyed the cruise, there was about 120 children on board which meant they all got excellent attention from the club councilors. Every evening in the kids club had a theme. Circus night, Pirate night etc... We always tended to go for dinner between 7 - 8 and never had to wait on a table, if believer if you went little later there was waits of 20-30 mins We are booked another TA on the Epic for November 2018 Please give me a shout if you need any more info Lachelli |

Thanks for the info don't really know what to expect, not too bothered about being around the main pool area there's only me and the wife going so as long as we can get a seat somewhere , we've only cruised with Thomson much smaller ships the Epic looks like it's on a whole different scale , we have the drinks package but have seen it doesn't include bottled water are there water machines around the ship ? also can see that the cabins have coffee makers do they have kettles also ?

Another fan of the Epic here. Sailed on her this Summer and we absolutely loved it. Loads to do, great restaurants, even the buffet is excellent and has themed nights.
Our bed was really comfy and we hardly felt the ship moving at all, must have good stabilisers as the sea was rough a couple of times ! Good luck on your trip, i'm sure you'll love it. |
