Sorry Carys missed this earlier - not sure if you can book (Steve - highlander will know) we just walked up on both occasions we ate there and it was the week before Xmas so quite busy. First time we were seated immediately, the second we had about a ten minute wait, you just give your name at the podium and they call you when table is ready.
The best bit is the Stop Forrest Stop signs on the tables, all the servers will stop for you not just yours, no danger of running out of that beer lol

Think they are a sort of cornmeal deep fried in breadcrumbs - pretty tasteless really
Found this: HUSH PUPPIES A Southern U.S. specialty consisting of balls of cornmeal batter, seasoned with chopped onion, garlic, etc. and fried. The name supposedly originated when Southern hunters were gathered about the fire to cook the evening meal, and the dogs would start barking and begging for food. The cook would drop bits of corn meal batter and toss them to the hungry dogs with the admonition, 'hush, puppy!'"

I love Forrest Gump but hate fish! I would love to go to Bubba Gumps but looking at the menu it seems there just arent enough non-fish options available.

Well, like in most US restaurants they will do most things as you ask. There are steak and chicken options that you can have without fish/seafood.
Onion ring stacks etc as appetisers that you can have as a main course. I could easily order 2 non-fish appetisers, salad and bread and eat quite happily there - it's worth going for the atmosphere alone - JMHO
