Weekend price premiums
Hi all,
I was wondering how much of a premium we would have to pay for flying on a Friday, with either VA or Aer Lingus from Manchester? Our dates are hopefully going to be Friday 19th May to Friday 2nd June. Are we talking hundreds more? Is it cheaper to fly on a Saturday or Sunday? For AL, I was thinking £650 return? Do I need to manage expectations a bit more? I know VA would be much more than that. We've usually flown mid week and avoided weekends so I've no idea what to expect!

Typically yes, for certain who knows. We've found in previous years that a Friday flight is cheaper than a Saturday for those dates (we normally fly around those dates each year as our LB gets 2 weeks for half term). This year we are flying on the Wednesday as they were £400 each cheaper from Gatwick. Depends how flexible you are on which airport you fly from we have found Manchester a lot more expensive than London airports since the colapse of Thomas Cook & Covid. Also depends on how flexible you are on which airport you fly into - Tampa/Melbourne can be cheaper than MCO and if you are willing to travel in-direct.
I would say AL £650 direct from Manchester would be the cheapest, more like £800 but depending on how willing you are to shop around - I wanted to book direct with the airline rather than through a third party, Virgin were around the £1k mark for this year. Edited at 03:43 PM. |
