You can do a screening on their website before your account is open and they will quite if there’s an extra payment and it’s guaranteed for 30days.

I did this a few weeks just to check they’d cover everything snd know what the cost would be. Our account went through quite quickly and we are all sorted with the insurance now.

Is that on the Nationwide website somewhere?

Already ticked yes to those as part of the application

If so, then we'll just need to pay to add our son as a guest as he's only 19 and at home but working full time.
My DD has her bank account address registered here, that is classes her as having this as her home address even though she lives at her uni address during term time. Even though your daughter has her student loan, as it is based on your income, she is financially reliant on you as I see it. I really don’t think Nationwide would question this. As your son is working, he wouldn’t be covered, but you could ask how much it would cost to cover him on your policy if you wanted to add him on

Thank you. She's got her bank and everything else registered here still so I'll give them a call to explain. I'm sure I won't be the first person to have done this and it will be easily sorted. Then I'll pay to get our son added on

We have had this account for years and we have also had to claim on a few occasions

- once for a Disney Cruise that got delayed and meant extra expenses.

- once for a mobile phone that fell out of DD's bag and smashed when she removed a towel from it

- once for a vehicle breakdown when I got a flat tyre

All paid out OK - only DD's phone was a bit more tricky as I had to get proof it wasn't economic to repair it from Apple

They also added my oldest DS when he came with us, as he lives elsewhere, for a reasonable fee.

Price has risen over the years but still reasonable and very convenient

Just seen this thread, OP I note you have already opened your account. In case anyone searches in the future I just wanted to add this information.

We are currently going through switching banks to Nationwide Flex Plus. As DH and I take repeat prescription medication, we needed screening before having travel Insurance was approved. We did this BEFORE, we opened our new accounts, as it was the main reason for switching.

We called the main number then 1 for upgrades, completed the screening were given the additional cost, which is valid for 30 days, and a reference number.

Once our new account is open, we wait 48 hours (for systems to align) then call again quote account number and reference number and everything will be complete.

Impressed with their service so far.
