Thinking of getting a wind turbine for our house

Has anybody got one? I have got some questions and comments and don’t want to have to listen to sales patter.

1. How is the power converted to electricity?
2. We do seem to get a lot of wind, not high winds but enough to make a day not so pleasant. A nice day for me is one without wind and we don’t have many of those.
3. I have seen some on Amazon for less than £1000? I suppose there is the cost of fitting to be added to the overall outlay. I have no idea how much this might cost. Could be more than the wind turbine! Any ideas gratefully received please!
4. Lastly, I think, would it be worth the outlay?

All thoughts gratefully received.

Sounds like a great idea in theory- I can’t offer any advice or insight as the only wind generator in our house is my husband! 🤣 💨

My top tip as a solar panel convert is to do your research! Green energy websites have so much info ... plenty is false, so cross check everything!

Fairly sure you need a field or large lawn for even the smallest of wind turbines and they tend to make a noise too.

I would look at solar panels especially if you live in the south.

slapping it on your house will likely require planning permission, you will need an invertor to convert the power to usable mains, the wind turbine would work best as an add on to an existing Solar PV system but doubt it would be simple or viable in a stand alone scenario

I suppose if it was easy, many many people would have them. So thanks everyone for your input.

The cost of a ‘good one’ would be far in excess of £1000. Definitely pursue the solar panel option instead due to cost, planning, noise.
Solar panels expensive too though sadly
