Last week of July so it’s really going to be hot, which could limit the amount we actually get done. Our hotel has a rooftop pool, so we’re hoping to use that to help cool down some afternoons.

Plus we thought the museums, the beach trip, the gardens and the evening trip to Cape Sounion will be cooler activities as a break from the archeological sites in the heat

I am overweight and unfit and managed it twice! The first time was in December so didn’t have the heat to contend with but the second was in July and it was sweltering! We actually booked a guided tour this time and that worked out well as there were constant stops to talk about things we could see and I could take a breather! It’s well worth doing at least once x

You could also just enjoy the Plaka area, as we did, and have a nice lunch, we went to Gods Restaurant it’s fabulous.
Or, take a taxi along the coastal road to Cape Sounion, and see the Temple of Poseidon, far less people, less hilly, and a beautiful place. We had lunch at a taverna along the way back.

You could also do a day trip to Aegina, an island 30 mins away on the flying dolphin. It's very pretty and has its own mini Parthenon

I can’t help with your question as I’ve never been but it would be a shame to not visit while you are there. Perhaps this is a good reason to try and improve your fitness a little over the next couple of months if possible.
