I don’t know if this is just a coincidence as splash broke in the morning and Kilimanjaro broke down in the lions in the morning too…..but I did notice later in the day they seemed to go down more.
We were on smugglers run close to 9pm one night and it was literally glitching the whole time. It stopped a couple of times but then came back up. There seemed to be loads of closures in the evening. The skeptic in me said it was to clear the lines out 🤣

I think I would have had to stay there until it moved again there's no way I could be climbing over wobbly boats.

I was only just beginning to toy with the idea of planning a Disney holiday in later 2023, but we would probably bring the kids' grandmother with us... Wheelchair users (and others with low mobility) are allowed on these rides, right? How on earth would they evacuate during a break down? Our grandmother walks some, but would need a wheelchair at Disney and would not be able to walk off of any of the rides (the way I have read people must evacuate). Ladders or steps? Narrow paths? Wobbly boats? What is Disney's plan for those who cannot do it?

One trip (years ago) we got stuck on BTM on the second lift hill. CMs came and released us and took us behind the scenes to exit. We got to walk under the faux rock work and check out the inner supports and machinery...it was really cool. I remembered thinking if this was a Disney behind the BTM tour it would be $59.99 a person.
In a related theme...just not actual breakdowns, I noticed this last trip that the unloading backup particularly on the water rides was much worse this time around. POTC, Splash, IASW... all backed up much earlier in long queues and took forever to slowly bump our way forward to unload. Pirates was backed up well before the dog-with-key scene and halfway into the burning room. Maybe a lack of staff causing delayed or slower loading/unloading? Maybe the 'boats' are packed with more guests and slower? It was definitely noticeable though. |

If *we* get stuck on a ride, no harm no foul a bit of a laugh (maybe a bit of an annoyance) and perhaps some free fastpasses. If my mother-in-law gets stuck on a ride and they need to call the fire department to evacuate her, she'd be completely mortified and never go on another ride or trip to Disney again. Sigh. It would ruin her entire holiday and rule out future holidays to Disney. Surely they have another option?
