Scones - A three part question.
(1) Do you say 'Scone' that rhymes with 'Bone' or rhymes with 'Gone'?
(2) Raisins/Currants/Sultanas...yes or no? (3) As part of an afternoon tea, Jam first then cream? Or cream then jam? Bone... no...Jam first. ... and who wants one right now?

Gone. Yes. Depends on the cream. Clotted spreads like butter so it goes on first. Whipped is softer. It needs to go on top.

Bone
Yes Jam (but dependent on cream type and which county I’m in!)

Ooh you’ve started something here! 😂 I have very strong views on this! 😂😂
I believe it’s bone - as it’s simply cone with an S on the front. Sgone just sounds posh to me! 😂😂 Only plain for me, but I don’t feel strongly if someone else wants fruit in theirs - but an unnecessary addition for me! 😂 And definitely cream first - it replaces the fat (butter). We held a charity cream tea and served up a hundred or more and I can confirm it was much easier to do it that way around. As for some peoples argument on the day that you get ‘less cream that way’, my answer is they are just doing it wrong! Pile high with cream first and then a smattering of jam to finish - perfect! ❤️❤️ ETA -I confess I am a Devonshire girl through and through though!😂😂 Edited at 07:27 AM. |
