Ride Breakdowns

So my family were stuck on Pirates of the Caribbean last night for well over an hour. Eventually getting off via a Fire Dept evacuation one by one having to walk across the boats to get to a safe point. I didn’t ride and they said I’d have struggled to walk across the boats with them bobbing about in the water

Cast members said this happens daily on this ride, and many others. Nobody seemed to know why it had broken down. The ride is 50 years old so are Disney scrimping on maintenance?

They were offered 3 fast passes for the inconvenience, but this was past 8 last night, they could only be used last night and not on the headliners and rides that had already given out their allocation. Poor this from Disney I feel

Whilst we have been here I’ve noticed a lot of rides down at all the parks at various times, I know that this can happen but it does seem more often than not.

DH tells me cast members were great and very apologetic but a strong email going in today to Disney to let them know how unhappy we are. We were advised to do this by guest services in the hope they sort this out as they are having to deal with more and more complaints.

Pirates has always been twitchy for breakdowns I feel but wow that wasn’t a good experience and a poor response from Disney.

The amount of breakdowns at the moment is nuts and impacting guests especially in the smaller Parks like DHS. That incidentally at 8.38 already has ToT and RnR down!

I'm really getting worried about all these dodgy evacuations too.

We had to get off splash! I write about it on here and that was the same we had to climb over the logs and they were swishing all over and we had to be careful not to tip them. There was SO many breakdowns when we were there - feels like more than normal! But it did help to desensitise my kids to them!

O no, I would hate to evacuate from a boat ride. We got back last week and couldn’t believe the amount of ride breakdowns we encountered, it was way beyond anything we’d seen in the previous 20 years. We kept getting issued recovery passes. We had Mickey and Minnie’s as our first genie plus on two different days and it broke down before we were on it on both days! Not just this ride but sooo many others. Somethings changed with the maintenance scheduling that’s for sure.

I would have made sure I stepped in the water. That way Disney could buy me new trainers. 🤣

At one point cast members had them with arms in the air waving from side to side. Think this was to dislodge the boat 😳

DD had nightmares about the booming voice saying “dead men tell no tales” which continued to play for a good half an hour after the ride stopped lol

Seriously concerned that maintenance has taken a big hit with Disney, how long before a serious incident?

Pirates showing as closed today, perhaps they are finally trying to fix it

I would imagine it might have something to do with the fact that there isn’t a quiet time anymore that would allow for more maintenance to be carried out. Also the sheer amount of people riding every day must put a lot of pressure on them.
