Flight experts - pls help me - BA booking but flight out with Aer Lingus - options?
Hello all!
I booked my flights on BAs website last year for early September 2020. We are due to fly with Aer Lingus LGW - DUB - MCO and with BA home MCO - LGW. I keep seeing people making comments about BA not flying from Gatwick. Would this effect me? Also, who’s cancellation policy would we need to be looking at? Aer Lingus or BA? I’m thinking BA as we have the contract with them. As it stands we are not wanting to go, so holding out at the moment for a refund / cancellation. I also know BA are currently allowing July and August flyers the option to take a voucher instead of the flight. Would that apply to us if it was extended to September? If the flight home (only) was moved from Gatwick to Heathrow, would we be entitled to a full cash refund? Sorry for all the questions. I, like many others, am finding this a very confusing time! Just trying to sort out all the possible scenarios in my head. Thanks in advance 🙌🏼

I’m just going to bump my post up if that’s ok? I know a lot has gone on in the last day or two so think it may have been overlooked and there’s some clever sausage out there who can help me!

No I assume your LGW-DUB is Aer Lingus as I do not believe BA fly that route. At this point it is not looking good for Aer Lingus to be flying MCO in September so probably best bet is to wait for the cancellation or the announcement that September dates qualify for a voucher. |

Bear in mind that Aer Lingus leave it much later than some other airlines for their cancellations.

Currently BA ARE still flying from Gatwick, someone posted recently that they were looking to re-start flights July, you also can still book Gatwick flights for next year. I get the feeling that the initial "we're canning Gatwick" was posturing but who knows?! Also someone recently posted that a change of Airport doesn't constitute a "major change" not sure why not though.
We still have our sept flights but only because we, like you, are hoping for a cancellation but worse case we will lose our deposit. SD

Was this booked flight-only or as part of a package with accommodation and/or car hire?

The booking us with BA so your cancellation terms will be theirs.
Also, as has been said, BA threatened to leave Gatwick (part of a bigger plan by Walsh to combine all staff contracts into one type and to get a cost reduction from Gatwick owners) They haven’t done so and I don’t think they will

Thank you to all for clarifying the Gatwick / BA situation.
But would I be waiting for Are Lingus? If BA cancelled my flight home, I would assume they would have to refund the whole thing? Or is that wrong?
