Sammy, Tracey and Kath - welcome along fellow BBs - thanks for joining me xx So, after Andy nearly choked on his coffee when I told him how much it was all costing we had a look at the itinerary and guess what, nothing could be found to drop I am sure it could if we tried hard enough , but we just want to do it all . I think maybe we will downdial on some of our planned accommodation for the West Coast as we will be moving around alot and many places are just for one night so they dont all need to be super duper top notch - its not as if we will be there during the daytime - just somewhere to kip and then move on. And that means we still havent decided on the dates yet - Its definitely going to be the 28/29/30 July window now - just whether its the weekend or the Monday as originally planned - it really will depend on the price . I have been looking at the late June and early July prices on a few websites - Iwas totally gobsmacked that BA came out as cheaper than Continental for early July dates but of course we wil be going in school holidays so I am sure the prices will get hoofed up as the days roll on. Coming home is still set as the 3 Sept - unfortunately Nick will miss some days of school - his school go back in late August whereas the other two dont go back until 5 Sept - but they start their holidays later than him so it was just proving a nightmare Why cant they all pick the same blasted 6 weeks to be off ? We are off to Alton Towers tomorrow for a bit of a theme park fix - We have measured Jamie umpteen times and we hope the measuring stick there says the same as out tape measure - namely that he has at last reached 1.4m and can go on the big rides But I am super paranoid about safety so hence all the measuring . Fingers crossed the sun stays out for us and its not too crazy busy.

Are we done yet?
Its pouring with rain , its a bank holiday weekend so what better way to start than an update to my pre trippy !
Its a pivotal weekend as next week the flights should be out for late july next year so we really do need to be decisive - could be a challenge I left off at Jamie's birthday - we had the most brilliant day at AT and happily he just made it over 1.4m and was able to do all the rides - we had a full day and were shattered when we got back. Andy didnt come as he had to lay the foundation for the patio so just me and the two boys - and it was so nice, sunshine and no bickering - well not until right at the end when tiredness got the better of them - some pics of our day out AT is such a lovely place The dreaded Oblivion - I have to shut my eyes when they go on this These were just tooooooo cute Air - I dont get the going upside down thing myself ! This went way too fast for me to get any decent pics Nemesis The Runaway mine train - the extent of Mum's thrill rides for the day ! I think its really beautiful in some parts pg[/IMG] The arcades were too much to resist Front row of Rita Continued ...

Duel - which we enjoyed so much that we went on three times in a row - thats when the bickering started over who had the gun with the stiffest trigger , therefore impeding their scoring ability - major source of contention
Connor running in for another go just to prove he IS better than his little bro Jamie , triumphant with his Angry Bird prize from the arcade Too tempting, really Scowls are setting in So, Mum insisted on another "thriller" - the Squirell Nutty ride ! ( the boys are in fear of these appearing on facebook) Connor rode with me to avoid being photographed And so farewell - we wont be back next year ...

Still not done yet?
And so , it was Jamie's actual birthday A quiet day, after the mega trek of the day before - man, my knees and calves were sore
Normal family chaos - everyone very interested to see whats in this particular envelope - including Wiley Oh look, its Disney Dollars And then we went to Devon - which has been the highlight of this years Summer hols So, four went down to Devon last weekend, and in spite of the rain on the way there, the sun came out, we had a great time - including fish and chips on the pier , rockpooling, stone skimming and steam trains - it could have been an Enid Blyton novel for sure ! We flew R/C helicopters at Saltern Cove , Paignton I fell over/in a rabbit hole and went flat on my face - deeply humiliating and re-inforced that wedge sandals are not the best footwear for these type of things so a quick trot back to pick up my running shoes Andy took a more relaxed approach to it all And we caught a pic of this seagull mid flight - avoiding the mad helicopters Down to the beach Mum shows them how its done for skimming stones The steam train - it was packed Beautiful Brixham - we have been watching FishTown so it was nice to see some of the places on there Connor, forced against his will for yet ANOTHER photo - subtitled: really, mother,is this necessary ? - yes it is , I want a pic of the fishmarket and when did you get so tall anyway ! And the reason we went to Devon - to see my Granny , who is 87 this year and the most wonderful lady The boys and their Great Granny So, thats what we have been up to , oh , and a few Florida bits and bobs as well , but they are for the next post ...

Great update Amanda looks like a great day out at Alton Towers. It was Ryan's birthday on 17th August. Both boys have been back at school now for 2 weeks and Ryan now playing football for 2 teams so it is all go. Still waiting patiently to get out flights booked. Have you decided when you are going yet?

Just had to say WileyCoyote, I wish all I had to worry about was the Techie side. My tribe are talking about 2013 I think. 2 weeks in Florida with my daughters fam., then a week in the Keys. My daughter said to be thinking in terms of £7000, for the wife & I. Is this a realistic figure. Oh, I have bought an extra lottery ticket for tonight, and am keeping my fingers xed!
