Booking tips for west coast
Hi, I’m currently trying to make a list of possible flight dates that would suit us for next July/August so that I can be ready to book if a bargain pops up, things like trying to avoid being in Disneyland at the weekend, should I try and avoid major cities at weekends for example, would there be much difference in hotel prices?

Sometimes cities are cheaper at the weekend because no business travellers.
I would say anything I have found about booking hotels may no longer be valid / relevant due to changes in travel from COVID but here goes: Avoid major events / conventions / public holidays (all will push prices up, though I am not sure many conventions are going ahead). AirBnB can be a really good option if the area allows it (and you are comfortable with it) Watch out for hidden costs (parking, resort fees etc) Book very very very early for places with limited accommodation eg Yosemite If I think of more I’ll come back |

Don't drive from LA to Vegas on a Friday or back on a Sunday.
Book Alcatraz when the tickets are released, especially if you want a night tour, which does not run every nights so you need to check dates. Disney, Universal Studios etc do not need to be booked in advance normally, couple of days was enough, but obviously may be different now. |

Hope you don’t mind me asking a question along these lines Bazinger? If you were flying into LA arriving about 5pm and staying in Burbank would you get stuck in/be affected by rush hour traffic? Just wondering if it makes much difference going on a weekend or weekday?
Thanks |
