Yes exactly!

I just wish BA would say how much it is on their website!
It would be so much easier to determine price that way...

It seems that BA have different prices for different seats, e.g. window seats are more expensive than a middle seat and the nearer you get to departure there's only one way the price goes, UP!

Its a shame that you can't see the seat map and prices as you make your booking, only after you've confirmed and committed yourself to the price of the flight.

It is possible to do a dummy booking using the Economy Standard/PE/CW fare and on the ba.com page where you input names/contact details etc once these are filled in there is a red box on the righ handside that says Choose Seats and this takes you to a page which shows seats available and their costs. You can just aandon the quote at that stage - if that helps.

As jim jehosofar pointed out, using a LHR-MCO 777 flight as an example there are a range of seating costs from £30 up to £90 in Economy depending on where the seat chosen is. It isn't a standard single charge.

Don't forget that if a passenger has need of medical or disability assistance (seen or unseen) then it is possible to phone BA's specialist department on a Freephone number and arrange this free of charge. Members who are in the BA Executive Club holding Silver or above can choose seats free of charge at the time of booking and Bronze members from 7 days prior to departure.

Hope the OP gets sorted out.

I booked at the weekend but west coast and paid just over £300 for 4 of us to pick our seats in economy, thats just going, its £35 each to come back. It does add a chunk to the prices but if you want specific seats guaranteed then I suppose you have to pay. Ours was for 2 x 2 window seats.

It’s not the cost so much as the fact that it is non-refundable! We have flights booked for May but still not convinced it will happen.

If your flight is cancelled you can apply for a full refund for your seat payment but you have to request it separately to your flight refund if you choose to go for one rather than a future travel voucher.
