Why did I look? Coming up (a bit) cheaper than the BA flights I've already booked. Although BA is with car hire and I've only paid deposit so that's still probably a better deal overall..

I've just booked return UC to Orlando for £3k for the 4 of us! Not sure if we'll be allowed into the US by then but Virgin are flexible with changes up to Dec 2022 so what the hell!

Miles fare was only £1k cheaper and would have cost us 154k miles. Half of what it normally is obviously but that amount of miles is definitely worth more than a grand so we figured we may as well just book cash!

Was very tempted, had found UC flights to San Francisco using miles for next September almost ready to book but then remembered I’d decided I wasn’t booking anything until the travel ban is lifted (plus I’m waiting to find out if I’m going to need surgery) as it will affect travel insurance.

Sensible head has therefore won and I’ll wait

Would VA apply the miles discount retrospectively to an existing booking?

The 50% offer is the miles used on a reward flight. So if it was 25k miles it’s 12.5k miles at the moment.
