Disney Wedding!
Hi all, sorry if this is the wrong place but wasnt sure where to post this.
I am a very lucky girl to be planning a disney world wedding! its not going to be for about 3.5 years unfortunatley (i wish i could do it next week haha) because my fiance and i want to do some travelling first before we have to settle and use our money for serious things like a house etc. i have got the virgin weddings brochure and also am always on disneys wedding website, but does anyone have any advice of other things to look at to help give me an idea on costs and all the things that need to be decided on. i know its very early but im a BIG planner and love to get excited about things that are years away! also any tips/advice any of dibbers who were lucky enough to get married in the most magical place in the world thanks Edited at 07:04 PM. Reason: spelling mistake |

Disney Wedding Specialist at your service LOL
Congrats on your wedding and I can't begin to tell you what a wonderful decision you have made to have it in WDW. 3 and a half years will fly - I've known a couple of Disney Brides who planned over this period of time. How many will be attending the wedding? I've never been a fan of booking weddings through another agent/operator like Virgin simply because you are going through a 3rd party and when you're planning a wedding and you want answers it's always best to get them from the horses mouth so whether you have an Escape Wedding or a Wishes wedding you should book direct with the Disney Fairytale Weddings Department. When you are planning this far out I definitely think come this time next year you should think hard about a tentative date and then if you are expecting a number of guests to travel from the UK then the more notice and excitement you can give them the more likely they are to think about planning a holiday to Orlando for 2 weeks so that they can attend your wedding whilst they are there - it gives them time to save if they've never thought about it. This was a big regret for us as we would have liked more of our friends to attend from the UK even though we had 45 guests in total only 12 were from the UK and more would have come if they had time to save - we planned the wedding 9 months out so I guess we were lucky to have 12 LOL Hope that helps for now

Another one recommending going direct thru' Disney Weddings (I did start off with Virgin wedding dept but soon changed my mind!). Personally, I think the worst thing about Disney wedding's is that you can't get a confirmed date/time until 8 / 12 months out (depending on which type of wedding you choose) but other than that, it's the most amazing day(s) you'll have Have you registered on the Disney Wedding site? When I did that, it gave you a bit more info on the options available to choose - like venue, bouquet, transport etc. The wedding co-ordinator that you get assigned when you have a booking is very knowledgeable and helpful via email or telephone. Have you been on the Dis wedding forum - it's really informative.
As an aside, we didn't use a Disney photographer, we used a local (Orlando!) photographer as we got loads more pic's for less money. HAVE FUN PLANNING!

Hi Lauren.
I've not married there myself (although hope to ) but just wanted to say congratulations Three and a half years will whizz by before you know it. If you look on the positive side, it will prolong the excitement and give you time to thoroughly plan your wedding down to the finest detail. As Sam says, it is important to give your guests plenty of notice so they have the time to save. After all it's the biggest day of your life and you want your nearest and dearest to be there with you. I know some of the people I would want at my wedding would need at least two years to plan and save. Also I plan on exploring all of the options myself, I don't really want to leave it in the hands of Virgin. I'm sure though, with you being a big planner Virgin won't get a look in Good luck with your plans Nice to see you back Sam I remember looking at your wedding photos on The Dis x |

thanks so much guys.
i thought that after looking though virgins brochures that it didnt look too good booking with them, dont get me wrong i book all my disey holidays through virgin and ill always fly with them, but it seems more magical and you get more choice booking through disney. it will defo be an escape wedding, it would only be small, just our parents and siblings. i just joined the dis wedding forum, read a few trip reports and now want to get married in all the locations! |

looking at your countdown, are you going to Florida before you plan to get wed? If so, I would phone ahead and see if you can get an appointment to see someone at Disney Weddings while you're there, who might be able to show you some of the locations and give you a little info. I knew I wanted the wedding pavilion, but when they let us have a quick look round inside, I cried! You could also keep your eye out for a wedding happening while you're there and get some ideas. We had Cinderella's coach as I had seen it being used before and knew it would be sooo special (and it was!). The Dis was so useful when I was planning.

THAT won't be a problemo at all - plenty of UK brides have planned from home without a planning session or site visit and DFTW are geared up to help you with your planning through telephone conversations and emails and pictures. Again plenty of UK brides have managed this feat so you'll be fine
Aww thanks Alex it's fun to be back on The DIBB I forgot how homely this place is and way more private for me believe it or not, I ended up having way tooo many stalkers on other forums so stopped posting for a while LOL the internet can be a weird place that's for sure!
