Riots in Hong Kong

We are booked to go in Oct. Getting a bit concerned re all the riots going on at present.

Is anyone else going soon, or been in the last few weeks? Are you still planning on going? Or if you have been any issues?

Thank you

We are going in 2 weeks! Must admit, I’m a tad concerned at the moment. It’s a 3 day add-on to our Thailand holiday, we are going mid-week and the issues only seem to be at weekends, but obviously that can change. I will be keeping a eye out this weekend to see if things escalate, then on to my TA on Monday if I’m worried.

I was going to book Hong Kong but have decided to wait until everything settles down.

We had planned to go in October, but have decided to go elsewhere this year and go to Hong Kong at a later date. If we had already booked though then we would still be going and not changing our plans.

Thank you all.

I keep watching the .Gov travel advice and it is still not advising against travel so that is good news. We only would lose deposit if we cancelled now but we have been looking forward to it. Think I will hold on for a few more weeks and if still the same reassess.

Willeve I hope you have a safe trip let us know how you get on if you go.

My DS is going to university in Hong Kong and flies out in 2 weeks’ time. From what I have read, it is mainly the weekends.

Thankfully his university is a campus one on Clearwater Bay - so quite far outside the main city. We are hoping to visit in October.

There are lots of threads on it on the Tripadvisor HK forum.
