An exciting Poncho thread
I am now in full planning mode and my head is whirling with intoxicating thoughts of ponchos, comfy shoes and questions on the merits of fanny packs.
So ponchos. I am torn between the very cheap but wasteful single use polythene bag material type ones or the more robust more expensive multiple use variety. What is the Dibb wisdom on this vital life decision? What do you use or recommend and why? Thank you |

I think this time I’m going with single use. I took robust ponchos last time but they’re a faff to carry around and dry off. After struggling with shoulder pain I’ve bought a tiny phone holder pouch which will also fit sunglasses and cash and that’s all I intend to carry. To be honest we usually just get wet on Splash Mountain and sit somewhere warm to dry off, but we go in early March and it’s sometimes a bit chilly first thing so a small disposable poncho will come in use (and fit in bag easily).

We’ve got the shower proof pocket pack a Mac , just clip them to your belt . ponchos are awful to wear over there imo.

Er I use both actually!
A few years ago I got a Disney one (was stuck in MK when it was raining and didn't have any form of rain protection with me so bought one), and it's held up incredibly well with a lot of use over the years. I do bring along a couple of disposable ones too though for when it's too hard to fit in the nice Disney one into my park bag.

We just get wet.
Especially on wet rides as that’s the point of the ride. Too much of a faff for us to carry them about, and if it’s humid you are as wet with sweat inside it as you are with rainwater outside it ! Yuck We have a change of clothes in the car if needed. |

We take an umbrella for showers and the cheap disposable ponchos for longer spells of rain. All day torrential rain we use both (can’t imagine just getting wet being fun when it’s all day rain).

We were there last May with pretty unusual rainstorms and to be honest ponchos (DH) or pac-a-mac (me) made no difference and we had to strip, shower and change completely by the time we got back on more than once occasion. Shoes were squelching and even had wet knickers but luckily we were in a villa with washing machine and tumble dryer.

Poundland or Dollar Tree for us, they do the job. Give them a good shke and hang them in the bathroom and they are ready for the next day. They fold down and fit a small make up bag.

I bought mine at Busch Gardens 15 years ago and they have been used a lot, still going strong and have used them here as well
Always take a pair of flip flops to put on for the wet rides and keep trainers dry
