Rude or not it's a fact, if people don't like the discussion then don't read it.
I just like to get off the merry go round occasionally. The point has been established so why go over something again and again and again and again... ?

But by all means churn on forever if it's your thing.

The fact has been ESTABLISHED that you DON'T need 6 months on a passport for a visit to the USA. It merely has to have a validity that covers your stay there. End of.

Because despite the fact being established, people like the travel agent I responded to this morning continue to post incorrect information that confuses and misleads people. It’s quite innocent I’m sure but is potentially misleading people into positions where they make applications, with the associated risks and expense that they simply do not need to make.

People are trying to be helpful. I’m not sure the reasons for asking people to stop talking on a discussion forum frankly. The internet is a big place, you don’t need to read the thread if you have got what you need and do not wish to contribute.

And saying that is not rude.

I do however agree that facts here are established.

Perhaps the mods can see fit to close the thread so we don’t get any more, “there is a 6 month rule” or airline t&c posts which people feel they have to correct.

3. You don’t need to renew your passport if it has less than six months on it. You will not be moaned or groaned at, or refused boarding by anyone in authority or any airline during the check in, for that reason alone.

This thread is clearly split into two camps now, the “factual”group and the “hearsay, just in case”group.

I know which camp I’m in, and will go with the legal advice from the UK and US authorities.
I think that the 2 groups it has split into are:

1 You don't need 6 months on your passport to enter the USA.
2 The Airlines T&C's may say you need 6 months on your passport

Both can be correct. What's the problem? Why is everybody arguing?

Totally agree and you make your point lucidly. By pointing out the incorrectness to the TA you are helping to correct the nonsense.
My point, equally, was the fact had been established way back in this thread but more and more hearsay had been perpetuated. It wasn't discussion - it was repetition. I have yet to meet anyone with less than 6 months on their passport that has been refused entry on a plane to the USA.
However, I can take advice and I won't be back on this never ending thread.

Ah! I see you yourself have now asked for the thread to be closed. QED.
