We're going to the Dominican Republic next May/June.

Is it safe to Snorkel around those parts?

I'd be surprised if that made a difference though.

Surely a Shark can swim around the whole of the island?

We swam regularly last month in the sea off peurto plata and survived ok. Water was warmer than in the pools !

Do they not have netted bays like they do at Disney's Castaway Cay?

At Punta Cana they do organised trips where you actually swim with sharks and rays.

I wouldn't let the mrs swim in a netted bay, got to be open water 😂😂
