I imagine I'd have felt the same about Gringotts if that had been the first such ride I went on, but in the context of FJ, as spectacular as it was, it wasn't quite as mindblowing.

Spiderman also definitely a contender - back in 2001 I hadn't seen anything like that before, really impressive stuff.
Exact same for us with FJ. Gringotts was a bit of let down, but obviously theming was amazing.

T2 to be honest, I remember being really impressed with it in 2001, don't recall doing in 2011, but in 2017, I really struggled with the 3D visuals. I was fairly towards the left, but certainly not in the outermost seat, and I couldn't get the two images to stop separating. I don't normally have an issue with 3D effects at all and everything else I saw over the trip was fine. It was in need of a technical update, so I'm slightly less sad about it being retired, as long as it's replaced with something decent!

I cried! I looked down at my DS to share my enthusiasm and he'd fallen asleep in his pushchair during the film. Typical!

Spiderman absolutely blew me away when I first went on it in 2004. I thought it was incredible.

Phantom Manor/ The Haunted Mansion I also thought was pretty amazing when I first went on it. Mainly the dinner party scene was quite spectacular to me.

Spaceship Earth. Just the idea that there was a ride inside the Big Golf Ball was amazing enough but I also thought the planetarium-like projection of the Milky Way at the top of the sphere was excellent (I still do).

The afore-mentioned Spider-Man and Back To The Future rides were also very impressive.
YES! I thought the same about Ellen's energy adventure. I was only 15 the first time I rode it and I was in complete shock when we started moving. Good memories.

Tricky one for me as I was quite young the first few times we visisted so dont remember my 'first rides'.

Theres so many I love, but actual mind blown would have to be Spider Man at IOA. I'm not sure it will ever happen again where a single ride seems to be so advanced compared to anything else around at the time.
I would say the same about Hulk and the launch part, it completely surprised me. Til then, roller coasters just did that slow clicking climb. The only thing I hate with Aerosmith is that you know its coming because youve seen it in the queue. Ive never understood why they ruin that surprise.

I agree with so many of these but nobody has mentioned The Simpsons ride! Loved that when it opened in 2008!

I was very impressed with Forbidden Journey during the flight scenes. The mechanical parts were ok but not as impressive. Gringotts was excellent if sat at the front of the first car.
I was also amazed by the Hogwarts Express. Being old enough to remember these old train carriages, I thought the effects were brilliant, on both sides for both journeys.

A couple spring to mind.

First Trip in 1997
The original Kong ride - the sheer scale of the ride, we'd never seen anything like it!

Seeing the Saturn V rocket at Kennedy Space Center. Wow - we just couldn't get over the size of the thing

2nd Trip in 2002

Spiderman at Islands of Adventure. First went on it in 2002 during our second trip to Florida and it just blew me away - I'd never seen anything like it.

Recent Trips 2013 onwards

Forbidden Journey. What a fantastic ride, mind blown!
Kilimanjaro Safaris. Another one where the sheer scale of the attraction was amazing!
Atlantis exhibition at Kennedy. I was lucky enough to see a shuttle launch in 1997 and the reveal is beautiful! To see it just hanging there and to be able to get up so close to it is amazing.
