I've concluded that one of the main problems (as it happens on other similar coasters, too) is that there isn't a proper harness. i.e. it doesn't go around my shoulders and hold me in. Even though I'm never going to fall out, it makes me shuffle from side to side the whole time and isn't great. Hulk on the other hand has the proper restraints and is fine.
This is very interesting, as I suffer from what feels like head bashing (brain bashing around in my skull) on some coasters and I hate the shoulder restraints as my head physically gets bashed even more.

Hulk is one of the worst offenders for me, to the point where I said last year that I won't ride it again.

What I love about RRR is what you hate

You sound like my DH... we are always having this argument haha!

I think it has something to do with your height/where your head/chest is on the ride as I spoke to a couple of teenage girls when we were last there who suffered exactly the same as me!

I'm small too, but maybe not small enough to avoid a head smashing with the restraints

I love the vertical climbs (RRR), huge drops (Mako, Sheikra) and massive acceleration (Hulk, R'n'Roller, Mummy), but have no time for corkscrews, loops etc, that just do my head in

I agree about the restraints. I would much rather have The Mummy/RRR type restraints than the shoulder type restraints any day!

I'm the opposite - I love loops and corkscrews and I am not as keen on vertical climbs and massive accelerations. I also prefer over-the-shoulder restraints rather than those lap restraints, which don't feel secure at all.

I also prefer proper ride vehicles with sides and fronts to them rather than just seats on wheels.

Yeah, I think we discussed this before.

I'm thinking we need a poll on this just to see what the split is. I'm guessing most folks have no preference, but would be interesting to see how the rest are split. So a four way poll perhaps; don't like coasters, prefer drops, prefer loops and no preference?!?

Height is an issue for a lot of people, so huge drops are intimidating and therefore a factor.

I'm the opposite on the car thing as well. I like the extra perceived danger of less enclosure. Imagine the traditional Blackpool coasters, with a bench seat and a thin lap bar

I don't mind those. At least they had sides to the vehicle and somewhere to put your feet. I like to wedge my feet against something and thus push my body into the seat when required. You can't do that with these new-fangled vehicles where your feet are loose.

(My first ever "proper" rollercoaster was the Rollercoaster at Blackpool. Soon followed by the Grand National. Both classics).

Depends on their age and how brave they are. Hulk and Rip Ride Rocket are probably the worst but depends on your children. Perhaps start with Woody Woodpecker one first?

I never get this type of question! If your kids are tall enough to ride and they want to ride let them! They are not going to learn what they like any other way! My daughter is nearly 8 and is 130cm so she tall enough for every ride at Disney, I’m not stopping her from doing anything! If she was tall enough for the big rides are universal she’d go on them too! Even if I hate a ride I go on it with her with a big smile on my face, otherwise she’ll pick up on my fear and not do it!
