We are flying out on the 12th May for 10 nights. Always do DIY but this time couldn't get anywhere near VH price. We are staying at Sapphire Falls for the 10 nights for £917 each. Thought this was pretty good and we only booked 3 weeks ago

We did it last year, but we only booked 2 weeks before. Still got most of the fp I wanted (even FOP) although I was checking daily to get that one.

Thanks all for your thoughts...

Dates are completely fixed. I am a teacher so has to be May half term.
I don't want to drive, so that makes staying on property our best option by far. I know we could get taxis etc but I dint think I want to be bothered with that.
I see that we could not buy the dining plan (and agree completely about it being only good when its free!) but Im thinking we could cut back and maybe save a couple of hundred dollars, but also by buying it we could have a brilliant time and looking forward to sharing a few drinks with her as she has just turned 21.

All in all, we know its expensive and extravagant, but its a one off opportunity for us as she will just have finished university. And we are going to California for three weeks over Summer so we can't move it then.

I don't think I can resist... !

I did a short trip with my dd a couple of years ago. We stayed is all stars - I don’t think I would do ddp if I were you. We found it lovely not to have adrs planned - found it much more relaxing to go as we pleased. I bought myw tickets, as we were there for 5 days. We often talk about what a great holiday it was being just us two. Enjoy!

DO IT :-)
I went to NYC with my Mum in Feb. Absolutely loved it. You can't buy memories!

Why not just stick with the California trip since you're going for three weeks? That would be an amazing holiday for a lot of people and think of all the things you could do with the money you'd save by not going to Orlando for that week Mind you if money is no object then forget I said that!

If saving money isn't the issue, get it booked! You'll have a great time with no worries about anything when you get there. Enjoy your selves!

We did a fairly last minute trip last year, myself and my 15 year old DD. Having only been with the dining plan before, I didn't want to feel like we were missing out, so I put the equivalent cost on a FairFX for food, drinks and snacks and had nearly half the money left at the end of the holiday! We certainly didn't scrimp either, we ate onsite a few times and I had a good few cocktails! We really enjoyed the freedom of eating offsite too, Longhorns being my favourite and my daughter adores Sweet Tomatoes now!
We stayed offsite at the Delta pretty close to Disney Springs and used the free shuttle and Uber to get around.
I would definitely go for it, but maybe shop around for a better price, there are some great bargains to be had in May usually.

I stopped trying to resist and booked last night. Am shaking with nerves and excitement now! Need to get my reservation to link quickly now on MDE so we can start making fast pass reservations and ADRs. I am so impatient!
