Buses, Bars and Bargains. January 2020. Day 2, Outlets, Icon Park, Taco Bell and Alehouse
Index
Sunday 12th January I woke at 6.30, Matt a little later. We both slept really well, maybe because we were shattered but the bed was comfortable. We had breakfast The donut looked good but it left an aftertaste. We planned to visit the outlets so we decided to take the trolley to the international premium outlets. (Universal end of I Drive) It was early and the outlets didn’t open until 10 so we walked to the surfside trolley stop as it was a lovely day. We didn’t wait long for a trolley and it was empty. It was about 9.30 so we popped to Taco Bell opposite and I had a breakfast wrap. I love Taco Bell. This was from the dollar menu and it was good. We went back to the outlets and sat for about 5 minutes until opening time. First stop was Bath and Bodyworks. Now we didn’t expect to find any bargains and I don’t know if it’s because it was January sales but we did really well. All the Xmas stuff here had up to 75% off so I picked up a few bits. $11.16 (£8.86) Matt then looked in Tommy and saw some things but wanted to look around first. We went to Ralph Lauren and CK but didn’t see anything. I went to Converse and picked a pair up in the sale plus 25% off. When I got to the cashier I was told it was it was also 60% a second pair so I went back and looked for another pair. $43.90 (£34.88) Then we passed the croc shop, I like their flip flops and recently broke my only pair, it was BOGOF $26.59 (£21) Matt found the Havaianas shop, he has loads of pairs already but it was 50% off so he got some. He would have got more of they had his size. $15.60 paid with cash. Then we headed back to the Tommy shop as Matt had seen a jacket, they didn’t have his size in white but he brought a shirt and jumper. $43.11 paid with cash. It was getting hot and near lunchtime so we decided to go back to Taco Bell. We had various bits off the dollar menu and a drink to share. It came to just under $7. It was so good and even Matt was converted. We walked out and a trolley was coming along so we ran for it and went back to the hotel. Matt had a couple of beers and I had rum and coke. It was so warm I went in for a swim. We went to the room about 4 to get ready. We decided to walk there and trolley back. We had a BOGOF voucher from a book we picked up from the i trolley for OShucks, a karaoke bar around the corner from the hotel. It had to be the same drink so matt had 2 beers and I had a Long Island iced tea. I think it was just over $10. We also played pool. It was quiet as karaoke started at 9. We then walked to Icon Park and had a drink in Tin Roof, a live music bar. We got there in time for happy hour so I think it was about $10. The guy singing had a nice voice but not much stage presence. We ended up sitting outside. The toilets here were disgusting. We had a look around. Then we headed to the Alehouse. It was busy as the football was on, I think it was the quarter final. We ordered drinks. Matt wanted the steak sandwich but for some reason we ended up with Nachos. They were amazing but filling. The dip was the best I have tasted. Then we had the zingers which were in the happy hour deal. They were ok. Total was $41.69, I think we left $50. I didnt realise I was having double rums until I saw the receipt. They were on happy hour all day every day. Time was getting on and we missed the last trolley, it was a long walk back! Straight to bed again. Edited at 07:50 PM. |

I was surprised getting all those bargains, lots of people said it’s not as cheap now.
I wasn’t happy walking home! It would have been ok if we didn’t walk there lol. Even Matt said how far it was when we went on the trolley later in the week. |

You did get some great bargains on your shopping trip, I love your pink flip flops, they looked really nice with your dress that evening. I love the idea of ordering lots of things from the dollar menu to eat and share too, it looks so tasty
