Recommendations for books websites forums or podcasts please

Sometime in the distant future I'd like to take hub (and the kids, if they are still living at home!) to the West. May have to do two trips as I'd like to see things from lots of states: California, Oregon, Wyoming, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado...the list could go on, but these are the main ones!

I was wondering if there are any really good forums like the Dibb out there for touring the western states and finding out about what to see? Or any good podcasts? Or failing that, or should I say in addition to that, any good books? I already have:
WHSmith Discover California
Brit Guide to Vegas
Fodor's Arizona, Utah
Eyewitness USA, and Southweast USA & Vegas
Insight guide Arizona and Grand Canyon
but with winter nights here I don't mind adding to my collection

Another thing I'd really like to do is something that my parents did when I was 12 and toured some of the west in an old motorhome.This was to pin a map of the USA on a wall at home (this was a huuuge map!) and put on it sticky dots for places to visit and pencil onto it a roadtour. I don't really want a map of the whole of the US, just of the states above (at least of Utah and Arizona, where we'll probably spend most of the time) but haven't been able to find any. Does anyone have any idea where I can get one? I did try printing A4 maps of each state but they didn't line up when I tried to tape them together
