Grand Canyon from Vegas

What are the best options? Any idea on prices?

1) Take an organised coach type trip

2) do the helicopter thing

3) rent a car & drive - if this option how far/long is it?

Planning underway for 2011

Thanks

We looked at the different options and decided for us it was best to do a helicopter trip. Both the coach and self drive options meant we would spend more time driving to and from the Canyon, which, as my DH was already doing a lot of driving, was something we were eager to avoid.

The coach tour meant being out for 15-16 hours with only 3 hours being at the Canyon. We didn't get as long at the Canyon with the helicopter trip but were very happy with what we saw.

If it is going to be your only visit and you are not planning to stop the night or tour the GC - I would do a plane - helicopter trip

Hi

We did a helicopter tour in August with Papillon and it cost just under £200 each, £ not $

We flew to and from the Canyon and had about half an hour there which included a basic lunch

In all we were out for about 4-5 hours, getting picked up at the hotel at 9am and getting dropped off around 1:30-2pm

I would say it depends on how long you are in Vegas for, as we only had 4 days, we wanted to see the Grand Canyon but didn't want it to eat into too much of our time there if you know what I mean

It was great though, we loved it

We drove to the GC from Vegas, took us 4 hours there and 4 hours back, it was so worth it though.

If we go again, I will be looking at a Helicopter flight as I want to go in the Canyon next time.

Hi,

We did Papillon's Grand Celebration Tour. Transfer to Boulder City, then helicopter to/from GC, landing in the canyon for a champagne breakfast.

It was fab and highly recommended

We're going back next year and would not consider a trip to Vegas without going to GC - it is a truly awesome place, it's breathtaking and words can't describe it and is something you must see when you are so close to it.

Keep looking on the travelzoo US site- they sometimes have offers on Papillon tours (ours was $199 pp incl taxes!).

If anyone is going to book online with Papillon sign up for their newsletter first (on their home page) - they'll send you a 10% discount coupon.

HTH

Anne K, did you book with travelzoo on the US site - was it ok. Just wondering as when these sites tend to quote in ££ its a lot more expensive.
Thanks

We also did the Grand Celebration Helicopter tour in August and upgraded our flight so that we had the helicopter to ourselves. We booked direct with Papillon and took advantage of the 10% discount by signing up for the newsletter.
