Universal via booking.com - refund after cancelation

Hi, I booked a stay for August as it was down as free cancelation. I had to put down a small deposit. I then decided to change the room type. When i went to amend the booking it was coming up more than if i rebooked so I cancelled the booking and rebooked. The cancelation is showing in my booking.com account but i have not been refunded the deposit yet a week on. Does anyone know if its Booking.com or the hotel that would have taken the payment. Anyone had experience of this before and if so how long did the refund take?

Booking.com take all payments. Not sure how long your refund would take but I would give it another few days before chasing.

If you booked a universal hotel they take the payment not booking.com …took about 10 days to get Mine back

I don't think any of our refunds have taken anything less than 2-3 weeks & in some cases months! Not sure why Booking would have already paid Universal ? I know Netflights hadn't & we were full amount when we cancelled.

I recently cancelled a Universal Hotel booking with Hotels.com (Better cashback rate) and it took 10-14 days before I saw the deposit returned.
