Portofino or Royal Pacific?

We've stayed twice at RPR and loved it both times.

Looking at Portofino, it also seems lovely so can't quite choose for next year.

A couple of questions...

1. How far is Portofino from Universal?

2. Do you get a water taxi from Portofino?

3. Is there just one large rectangular pool at Portofino?

4. What are the eating options like at Portofino?

Thanks all

1. A little bit further but you still get the boat.

3. sorry, we didn't use the pool

4. eating options are good with pizza etc but we stayed club so can't really comment on the quality of food.

We've done RPR and PBH and would always choose PBH

I considered PBH for this year as it’s included in the AP rate but I think it’s farther out from the parks and we like to be able to walk. For that reason I’d choose RPR.

Just to add to other answers, Portofino has 3 pools. Main pool with slides etc, villa pool and hillside pool.

It is only 15 min walk although we always used the boat.

It is so peaceful. Sitting outside watching the boats on the lagoon and enjoying pizza from Sal’s - golden moment.

The live music from the balcony in the evenings is great also.

We adored it and would love to stay again.

We usually do RPR but have booked portofino for this year. Practical things that swung it for us were; bigger rooms, more food options (we like a Starbucks in the morning) and the kids liked the look of the pool area (don’t think RPR has a slide)

Prefer RPR over HRH but giving Portofino a go this year (at least I hope I am!). Got a good rate with annual pass.

It’s a lovely resort.

It was a 13 minute walk to security gates just before the universal park. I timed it on our last trip as someone asked.

The water taxi is great and stunning at sunset.

Pool question answered above - lovely hot tub with waterfalls at main pool too.

Food. Sals pizza is fab. Great value and freshly made. Quick service but brought to your table when ready. Starbucks which is super handy and the Thirsty Fish Bar is lovely for sitting outside at night for a wee glass of wine and some cheese and crackers.

Plus rooms are gorgeous.

I really like all 3 of the express pass resorts and would be happy at any of the 3.

Did RP first and then Portofino,no contest, been back to Portofino three times, and booked 3 nights for May 22 !

Its so peaceful ,with excellent Pools,Food options and large rooms with unbelievably comfortable Beds !

Its only a 15 min stroll which is lovely, but 90 % of the time we use the boats, and you get a slightly longer ride !
