A week to chill
Chill? Odd way to describe a week in the heat of the Florida sun.
Anyway I decided I needed a break from my recent city break holidays where I spend hours pounding the pavements and, instead, to take it a (little) bit easier. I've also got $350 left over from Boston and burning a hole in my pocket. So I've booked a flight and (gulp) a car and am in the process of finalising the rental of a townhouse at Emerald Island through a Dibber. A big house all to myself so that should be good. I'm flying out September 20th via Dublin because I just love - or should that be lurve - pre-clearance. Then I have to gird my loins (whatever that means) to drive in the US of A. I've done it before but it was a while ago. Might squeeze in one or two days at a park - Animal Kingdom maybe as it seems very close - and I'm considering going to the baseball at Tampa. I'd like to go to Fort Lauderdale to see them play the Rowdies, two teams from my childhood interest in the NASL, but it's a 7 o'clock kick-off and I'm not sure I fancy the three hour drive back in the dark! I also fancy a day at Kennedy Space Center as I've never been before. So, the the purpose of the post. Any suggestions from you expert Dibbers on a couple of other things to try. I'm not to averse to anything really but don't suggest skydiving. Edited at 12:55 PM. |

If you are after some real relaxation I'd go to one of the natural lazy rivers. I love the one at appopka. You rent yourself a car inner tube on the way down to the entrance, park up and float 😀 The water is warm naturally when you get in and it's really getting back to nature... Have a Google and see what you think.
Enjoy your break Jo |

I will, thanks for the idea.
I've realised that the food and wine festival is on whilst I'm out there, so I've ordered a one day ticket for that; HHN is on at Universal so I'm planning to get a Rush of Fear ticket with Express Pass and do three or four visits and I still plan a day at Kennedy. |

Some time at the beach? Maybe an overnight in a motel on the coast?
