Fake breast - any issues at security?
Will be my first year travelling with my breast prostheses after last year’s mastectomy.
Is there any advice for going through security? Am aware it may look odd on the scanner - do I inform someone? I’ve been told it’s fine to wear on a plane - can anyone confirm? Thanks Hayley.

I wouldn’t say anything unless asked (which I doubt you would be).

If you have to go through the scanner, and it highlights the chest area, they will need to search the area - please do let the body searcher know why it may have highlighted there. As a former security officer it's frustrating when, after 5 minutes, a passenger says 'oh yeah I've got X,Y,Z'. No reason for them to do anything except search the area, possibly use the handheld metal detector too.
Otherwise, no reason to tell anyone!

I’ve flown a few times since I got mine but I get assistance at the airport and each time I’ve quietly told the lady who was checking me through security that I’d had a mastectomy but only because I couldn’t raise my arm to be scanned properly! She was very discreet and it wasn’t a problem! I doubt if it will be a problem.

Hi, I’ve travelled with my prosthetic boob since 2015, been in the scanner, never been an issue. Xx
