Disney Waterpark Refillable Mugs

Back in the day when life was simpler with paper Fastpasses, proper turnstiles and monorails had real drivers who you could sit up front with, you could buy a barcoded waterpark refillable mug for the day, return for a second visit and buy a barcode sticker at a cheaper price rather than buying another mug.

Now with all these new fandangled apps and microchips, is there an option to buy a discounted second day of refillable drinks? Or has Mickey decided that's it's actually progress to buy another darned mug for the day?

When we were there last, albeit 5 years ago, they had switched to the microchip mugs from the barcodes ones. They let us swap to a new mug and then charged us the discount second day refills charge instead of charging us for a new mug. I'm hoping they will do this again as we still have it and I intend to take it with us to try

Now I could be remembering incorrectly but I'm pretty sure we bought one mug and they reactivated the chip each time similar to universal. With the activation being cheaper.

We bought one mug and had it reactivated one trip and then again the next trip. Definitely can reactivate at a reduced price

Yes, we did this last year. You just take your mug up and they re-activate the chip for another day as a reduced price. I can't remember how much though!
