Bowland wild boar park
Clitheroe Castle, there are some shops in Clitheroe, nothing too exciting though ! A small park by the castle. Plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants. I would recommend the Emporium for a meal but you will now need to book. Edisford Bridge for river walks, swimming baths ( not sure if open) If you are feeling energetic you could walk up Pendle Hill If you are happy travelling about 40 minutes Brockhole Country Park and nature reserve ( don’t buy lunch here though, thought I needed a mortgage last week !) Mrs Dowsons farm for animals and lovely ice cream Downham village, nice village, film location for Whistle Down the wind and Born and Bred. Skipton for castle and maybe a barge trip. I’ll come back if I think of anymore Hope you have a nice trip away. |

About 15 miles away is one of our favourite walks. The Tolkien Trail. Starts and ends in Hurst Green and there is a lovely pub... Shireburn Arms.
Just under 11km.

Walk along the River Ribble from Edisford Bridge to the Aspinall Arms (Great Mitton) for lunch and then walk back. We had lunch there yesterday- very nice.
