Best time of day for dolphins?
I'm looking to do either Little Toot or Sea Screamer (probably Little Toot) when we are in Clearwater.
Does anyone know what time of the day has the best chance of seeing the dolphins? Obviously I'm aware that a sighting is never guaranteed. Any advice is greatly appreciated! |

We did Little Toot's in October.
I'm no expert but I really think the time of your trip will make very little difference as to your chances of seeing dolphins. They quote a 95% hit rate. We did the 11:00 trip and it was excellent. Saw lots of playful dolphins and loved every minute of it. We mainly picked this to keep away from afternoon nap time for our youngest but to stay away from the hottest part of the day a little. The dolphins do seem to love playing in the wake of Little Toots. We did see dolphins from our hotel at most times of day during our stay in Clearwater. I have to say I might be tempted by a sunset one in the future. My advice would be to do it at whatever time suits any other plans best. I would do it earlier in the trip so that if you don't see dolphins you have time to take advantage of the free return trip. I did Seascreamer many years ago and we turned back in 10-15 minutes out due to a storm. I didn't get to go again as we were heading home the next day.

We went last month and noticed more in the morning than any other time.
You just need to look out for them there are plenty to see at Clearwater and up and down the Coast. We stayed in Pierhouse 60 and could see them from our room. Fantastic! |

I think if there’s a storm they go and hide somewhere we did a trip on Anna Maria Island in 2016 after a Hurricane and only saw a few fins and tails at a distance. Last year boat trip on Cape Coral saw them much closer up and that was the morning, best day of the holiday for me.

Hi we were there for 4 days last week, every time little toot came out they were there.
Saw a manatee in the harbour, and the dolphins were messing about in the sea at 16: 30 most evenings 2 came and swam about 6 foot from us incredible! |
