I would eat it. Unless it smelt off (I always inspect and smell food before cooking even if its in date). I don't tend to take much notice of expiry dates and I've never had food poisoning from my cooking! We tend to freeze all meat as soon as the shopping is delivered and then defrost it on the day anyway (we only eat meat at the weekend).

I have cremated bacon too 😄 My family always say - ‘and leave mums in until it’s properly cremated’ if they’re cooking it 😄

unopened bacon, i reckon youve got at least 2 more weeks before it starts going bad assuming its kept correctly in the fridge and not left on top of the radiator in your lounge

sniff it. look to see if theres any discolouring or it feels overly slimy.

it'll be fine!

sniff and slime test, got it! i always think it feels a tad slimy anyway, but will check it out later! i'm sure it is fine. Its been in the fridge since I bought it. I've found since Christmas, the dates on food in the supermarkets is very hit and miss on fresh stuff... some can have like a day or 2 and others several weeks. Really quite hard! I had some chicken in the freezer that I only bought last weekend and froze. Took it out yesterday, looked really dodgy and had gone a bit of a funny colour. Wasn't out of date, it went in the bin!

How did people not get gravely ill on a routine basis before use and sell by dates were introduced?

Mmmmm let me think... got it...

common sense.

Another bacon cremator here. I just think it tastes so much better. The rest of my family prefer it barely cooked, yeugh.

Ps. I’m with the sniffers, if it smells ok, I’d go for it. Bacon is cured, so meant to last for ages
