Question Virgin companion reward & miles help please

Hi,

I am thinking way ahead here but find all things to do with virgin miles/points confusing (have accumulated some but never used)

We both have a virgin C/C and think we will probably be using it enough over the next 12 months to earn a companion flight each.

I have no understanding of this.. does this mean we can use miles to book 2 seats then get 2 free tkts? Or do you have to pay cash for 2 flights then get 2 free tkts?

Can you book in any class?

Do you have to pay the taxes for all 4 flights?

Also in c/c terms it states you need to spend £10000/20000 in eligible spends... what do they mean eligible spends? ( do they just mean no cash advance)

I told you I had no idea lol

Any other help anyone can give in helping me understand will be gratefully received ( keep it simple though).

TIA

Hi I think even virgin themselves have problems understanding the system.

You can now use the points and companion rewards in any classification now

We booked flights for the 2 of us using 2 companion rewards and around 85000 miles for sept this year for upper class both ways Manchester to Mco and paid the tax of £649 each

does this mean we can use miles to book 2 seats then get 2 free tkts? Or do you have to pay cash for 2 flights then get 2 free tkts? You can go either but reward seats have to be available for every mile or companion seat.

Can you book in any class? Yes but you need to be silver flying club to get UC or pay 50% of the miles.

Do you have to pay the taxes for all 4 flights? Yes

what do they mean eligible spends? ( do they just mean no cash advance) no cash advances or balances transfers and it's net spend ( refunded purchases don't count)

Thanks, getting my head around it slowly. It mentions clubhouse passes, does this mean you use the companion voucher for clubhouse instead of companion or upgrade? We are red tier

Another question ( sorry) but are there certain dates that you have to do the qualifying spend in? Assuming it’s just as soon as you reach £20,000 spend ( anytime in 12 months) but is it then 12 months from that date or the start of your previous qualifying period ( does that make sense?)

Thanks again

Yes, one voucher = one clubhouse pass.

It's based on your credit card anniversary - the year starts on the date your account was opened and resets every year on the same date.
