Electric or oil

Have an online viewing of a 2 bed bungalow on Monday. It has electric heating, never had electric heating before and the area we are in can only have oil installed not gas.I think the heating needs upgrading so if we were to go for the house,is it better to upgrade electric and have solar panels or put oil tank, boiler and radiators in? around 5.5k.Looked online and what I can see is electric most expensive to run.TIA.

Have a look at heat pump solutions. Will also need a boiler but can make electric more affordable, especially with solar panels as well.

You can shift to underfloor heating as well

In your position, I would be looking at an air source heat pump. They’re more expensive than oil boilers, but they are energy efficient in suitable properties. They go well with solar panels too.
