Much more eco friendly than the 747 and can fly further, they are pretty much the airbus variant of the Dreamliner but just better. Plus, the wing tips are out of this world IMO... but I'm a big aviation fan so that's why I love the A350.

Something to be aware of is that the seat width in PE on the Virgin A350 is narrower than on the older Virgin fleet - 18.5 inches vs the current/previous 21 inches. Also possible there is slightly less seat pitch in PE, but not certain on that point.

The A350 is indeed a lovely aircraft.

The "Leisure" I think refers to reducing the number of upper class seats as there is a ton on these aircraft at the moment.

Below is the virgin layout atm

I have heard they could go to 3-4-3 but each seat width will be reduced and they are already tight. The body isnt as wide as that on the 747

BA are doing the same on their 1000's but these wont be on the florida route.

Thanks for the info

Virgin already have a small upper class section compared with other airlines such as BA. I am surprised that they would reduce this further as Orlando and Florida generally is a big conference destination. Our annual partner conference is there every year although generally we fly to Miami as easier out of Heathrow.

The reduction compared to their business routes will only be on 5 leisure planes from Gatwick and Manchester.

747:
Upper Class
14 flatbed seats

Premium Economy
Pitch Width
38 21
66 recliner seats

Economy
Pitch Width
31 17.5
375 standard seats

A350's Business routes:
Upper Class
44 open suites

Premium
Pitch Width
38 18.5
56 recliner seats

Economy
31-34 17.4
235 standard seats

The loss on these plans is around 140 seats. 44 open suites on a leisure route is way too much they wont pay for themselves and loose virgin money in the long run, considering they have lost over 100 economy seats. I predict the net loss of seats to be around 50 if they reduce the suites down to 10-14.

Ah sorry I thought you meant reducing current offering rather than simply not increasing in the manner they have done on so called business routes. I agree that they don’t need 40 plus upper class seats but they could use more than on the current planes.
