We’ve often seen cranes on the castle. They redecorate for Christmas etc and must to minor work on it all the time. A screen would be disappointing but a crane is pretty commonplace.

It's our once in a lifetime holiday and you know what, I'm not bothered. Why? We're extremely lucky to be going in the first place when there's people in this world, in this country, even, who don't have enough money to eat. There's so many things to look forward to, I'm sure we'll manage to cope. I'm grateful to have this opportunity to go to WDW and I know we'll have an incredible time.

One thing Jen said to me yesterday when we saw this news on WDW Daily news, I got a message from her on what's app with lots of angry faces - Jen's been saying since we've booked that she wants this holiday to be magical for her being its her first time to WDW and now that she has the potetional to see the castle all covered up that is the main thing Jen wanted to see.

She even said if it ruined a complaint will go into Disney about all the works and all the money we have paid to be ruined by construction and all that. ( She is a Complainer she did it with DLP).

But when you pay so much money you expect everything to be perfect not covered up.

Oh noes! It was closed for refurb when in went in 2015 too! I'm just never meant to go near it, haha. Maybe they'll close Pirates at the same time I arrive as well to mirror my 5 year experience... I'm sure I'll have a great time anyway. It's a shame as it'll be my husband's first time, but he'll be wowed by everything else I'm sure.

I remember going in 2011 and there was scaffolding and a crane there. Agreed it spoilt the overall castle picture but we still took photos. Looking back I don’t really remember that part-just the other great memories made of the rides and interactions.

Could you possibly switch to 2021 ?

We are lucky we was already planing on coming back to Orlando in 2021 so we was already budgeting to pay for more flights in the summer so switching is painful but possible.

Luckily we have been before but I’ll be annoyed if the castle is behind scrim when we go as it’s the best thing in MK.

this might be a good thing if you prefer the parks a bit more quiet. this may just put a lot of people off from going until 2021.

I understand that for first timers it is really annoying but ever cloud has a silver lining...

We went over Christmas and it was the one and only time my mum and dad will go to Magic Kingdom. We'd have been really disappointed not to have been able to get the iconic photo of our family in front of the castle.

I went to Hong Kong in 2018 and I could only see the very top of the (tiny) castle as it was boarded up due to refurbishment. I said that I'll go back once the castle had been finished but with protests and corona-virus it might be some time.
